The Family Room

This family room’s complete look relied on its accessories. The custom built-ins, granite surround fireplace, and 18 inch tile complimented with hard wood floors throughout, were all in place when the client moved in. Each of the three TVs are easily hidden with bi-fold pocket doors. Using the clients existing furniture, we played up the red in the leather couches by choosing red accent pieces along with personal pieces. From the guitar to the chess game set up, this family room is ready for entertaining the entire crew. The bookshelves had so much space.

Using the owners belongings we filled them with books, pictures, baskets, plates, vases, pebbles from the beach, and more. Using the owners personal belongings and without spending a dime, we were able to create a comfy family room. We love built-in bookcases: They make the room feel complete while provide ample storage and display place.

Crib for a King or Queen

This baby room is centered on a black, white and yellow theme. The colors are great for a girl or boy. The beautiful crib is a family heirloom, but could be found in an antique shop to duplicate the look. Previously the crib was a light wood tone, we painted it white. The sheets, crib bumpers, blankets are all in different patterns of black and white. We used a lot of gingham, stripes and plaids. The corners of each of the crib post are adorned with large bows, simply made with an assortment of black and white ribbons. We had so much fun dressing-up this room for the king.

Tip*  If this theme works for your little one, keep in mind that it’s not easy finding baby items in black, so some things may need to be handmade or reupholstered.

Unique Wallpaper

While designing an extra fun space for a tween, we came across this great website: www.americanblinds.com/control/customWallpaper. Amazing! You actually design your own wallpaper, they print it and send it as large as you like. You can create a large feature wall or construct a small design with your company logo for the office. They also can enlarge pictures of your loved ones and paste them on the wall. The options are limitless. Get creative and start designing!

The Bunk Room, Minus the Bunks

What is a beach house without a bunk room? Our client wish list in this guest room included nautical, clean, and kid friendly, yet classy.
We could have gone straight for the bunk bed option, but instead we chose 3 single beds. We wanted to keep it sophisticated so that it could double as an adult room if need be. With it's private bath, the room is very functional for whomever your guests may be.

The Safari Room

The Safari Room. Step into the jungle in this king sized bedroom. With so much open space, we had room to play with furuniture. It was an upscale/budget consious client which always makes things interesting. We shopped Value City, Wicks, Carson Pirie Scott, Home Goods, Lowes, and more. Our client was very pleased with the result and price. We hope you find some inspiration in this bedroom's decor.

The Designers

Welcome to our blog. Between the two of us we have been a part of the decorating world for over 20 years! Sisters. We love designing and decorating homes. Our mother is to blame for this of course. She had a business with her sister called "Fly by Night Decorating"- as they each had day jobs and would do all of their consulting by night. She inspired us each at a young age with the lure of design. We would tag along on her jobs and put our two cents worth in. It became natural for us. Tricia studied design in college and began operating her own design company. Molly joined in the fun and together they are a sprouting pair. Here, in this blog, we will take you on this sisterly adventure that is our daily lives. We love sharing our design ideas. We work with all kinds of clients and do everything from "over the top" to "budget savvy" designs. Stay tuned and we hope you will be entertained along the way.
